Lakovic leaves PES and resigns as chair of Security and Defiance Committee

MP Miodrag Lakovic resigned as chair of the parliamentary Security and Defence Committee and left the Europe Now Movement (PES) after Parliament adopted amendments to the laws on Internal Affairs and the National Security Agency. He said he strongly disagrees with the new legislation shaping the security sector, adding that he could no longer remain part of that framework. Lakovic also cited a lack of collegiality within his parliamentary group, claiming colleagues tried to interrupt his speech during the debate.
