Parliament adopts amendments to Internal Affairs and ANB Laws

2026-03-06 - 21:27

Montenegro’s Parliament adopted amendments to the laws on Internal Affairs and the National Security Agency (ANB), with 47 MPs voting in favour of both laws and around a dozen against. The government and ruling majority say the changes will strengthen integrity checks in the security sector and help fight organised crime, while the opposition argues the laws violate constitutional principles and could enable political control over the police. Following the vote, the opposition Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) announced it will resign from several parliamentary leadership and committee positions, escalating political tensions.
